Fair questions

The things you'll want to ask.

How can MixRoute charge zero markup?

MixRoute is built by a cloud infrastructure company. We monetize enterprise contracts and committed-use volume with providers — not per-token markups on developers. Routing your requests at list price costs us almost nothing at our scale, and it earns your workload.

Where do the model prices come from?

Straight from each provider’s published pricing page — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and the rest. We pass them through 1:1. Check any price on our models page against the provider’s own site.

How do I migrate from OpenRouter?

MixRoute is OpenAI-compatible. Point your base URL at api.mixroute.ai, swap in your MixRoute key, and keep the same model names. Most teams are done in under five minutes — migration guide here.

Calculation basis & terms

Basis: we assume your current monthly spend runs entirely on frontier-tier models. The tier price ratios (light ≈ 0.15×, mid ≈ 0.60×, frontier = 1×) are drawn from a representative spread of major providers' list prices as of July 2026, shift with the market, and can be edited in the Assumptions panel. We also assume 15% of routable traffic stays on the frontier tier for quality, and the figures already include MixRoute's 5% Smart Routing fee ($0 during the launch window). OpenRouter figures use their published platform fees: ≈ 5.5% on card top-ups (≈ 5.0% on crypto).

All numbers are estimates based on your inputs; actual savings depend on your traffic, model pool and payment method. The 20–40% average comes from Smart Routing assignments measured across 10,000+ real requests. OpenRouter is a trademark of its respective owner; MixRoute is not affiliated with OpenRouter. For current prices see mixroute.ai/models.
